Jason Mack's Resume

BIO

Jason Mack holds a BA from Illinois State University where he studied sculpture and art history. In the summers of 2003 and 2004 he studied abroad in Italy to better understand the language and Venetian glass traditions. In 2007, Jason opened his studio in a large 19th century warehouse in Bloomington, IL where he creates a varied body of artwork with glass and steel. He recently developed a line of architectural lighting systems for 100watt Network using post-consumer glass.

"Today's consumer culture is continually superseding itself, creating a seemingly inexhaustible source of material from which to work. Utilizing post-consumer glass is a necessary and important aspect of my process. The properties of recycled glass have forced me to develop new ways of working with the material that blend old-world Venetian techniques with modern industrial processes resulting in a distinctive style of work."
